A new buzzword in management circles

Today I was reading a position description for a very senior position in our health service.

One of the key selection criteria was the following: "To horizon scan emerging models of service delivery, both nationally and internationally."

I think "horizon scanning" might be the next big thing in the management dictionary.

I don't know. In our part of the world, I consider horizon scanning to be gazing out to sea looking out for whales swimming past.
