An observation

Being the treasurer of a church sometimes seems like a thankless task.

That is all.

There are a lot of thankless jobs in the world (and the church).

True. This one just seems particularly thankless right now....

Are you treasurer?

My goodness! Full-on, thankless, painful job!

In a decent sized church (as yours is) realistically it should be a paid position. Our office manager is also treasurer.

No, not me. I have no idea with financial stuff. I like to be the secretary if I have to do an executive position on a committee. Writing minutes and reviewing policy stuff isn't hard. To me, looking at financial statements is like reading something in another language.

I know the treasurer quite well ;) And I do agree, with the amount of work required to do the job in a large-ish church, it should be paid....

My husband was the church treasurer before we came to Australia. One of the jobs he had to do that was particularly hard was deal with, was the finances of a pastor who'd married us, who'd been basically sacked by the elders, while our pastor was recovering from a spinal injury he sustained while at work (which happened after the "sacking"). Probably have some of the details wrong there, but it wasn't an easy thing to do. Thankfully we're still good friends with the pastor.
